Mobile Device Setup

Many of our digital readings are available on a host of devices, browsers, and formats. If you have a "Download" link that states "Full Digital" in My Digital Materials, then your digital product should be accessible on various mobile devices. To determine if your device is supported, see supported devices.

Some eBooks will allow partial or full printing. Before installing, please note that if printing is available for your eBook, you can only print from the first computer you download your book to. If you first download onto a mobile device, you will not be able to print.

Kindle users: The Amazon Kindle Fire is the only type of Kindle product line that is supported. For instructions on setting that up, see the Android tab below. Nook HD users: Android is the platform behind the Nook HD, so please follow the Android instructions below for setting up your device.

iOS

  • First, make sure you have Bluefire Reader installed

    Go to this link to take you to the iTunes Bluefire page, click on View in iTunes and install the app.

  • Get an Adobe ID to authorize your copy of Bluefire Reader

    If you already have an Adobe ID, you can skip this step, otherwise go to http://www.adobe.com/go/digital-editions-createID and follow their instructions.

  • Authorize Bluefire Reader with your Adobe ID

    Open the app on your device, tap Info and authorize the app with your Adobe ID and password.

  • Log into our Store with your mobile browser

    Once logged in, go to the My Digital Materials Page. Tap the Download link of the item you would like to read, and choose the option to Open in Bluefire.

Android

  • First, make sure you have Bluefire Reader installed

    Go to this link, tap Play Store, tap search icon, search for Bluefire Reader, tap Bluefire Reader from the list, tap the Install link, and follow their directions.

  • Get an Adobe ID to authorize your copy of Bluefire Reader

    If you already have an Adobe ID, you can skip this step, otherwise go to http://www.adobe.com/go/digital-editions-createID and follow their instructions.

  • Authorize Bluefire Reader with your Adobe ID

    Open the app on your device, tap Info and authorize the app with your Adobe ID and password.

  • Log into our Store with your mobile browser

    Once logged in, go to the My Digital Materials Page. Tap the Download link of the item you would like to read, and choose the option to Download to Bluefire Reader.

Other (Nook Color, etc)

  • First, make sure you have your eBook in Adobe Digital Editions

    If you haven't already setup Adobe Digital Editions, follow our instructions here and install and authorize it. You will also want to make sure that your eBook is in Adobe Digital Editions as well.

  • Plug in your e-reader

    Important: Before you plug in your e-reader, you will need to close Adobe Digital Editions and make sure it is not running.

  • After your e-reader is plugged in, start Adobe Digital Editions

    You should see your e-reader in the left pane. Drag your eBook from your library onto your e-reader

  • That's it!

    You should now be able to find and open your eBook on your device.

Supported Mobile Devices

These mobile devices currently support the reading of our Digital materials.

  • iOS devices (e.g. iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini, iTouch, etc. Use Bluefire Reader or Aldiko).

  • Android devices - version 2.3 and higher (e.g. Kindle Fire/Fire HD/Fire HDX, Nook Color/Tablet, Nook HD/HD+, etc. Use Bluefire Reader or Aldiko).

  • Windows devices with non-RT operating system (e.g. Surface 3, Surface Pro 1/2/3/4, etc. Install Adobe Digital Editions just like a Windows computer).

Unsupported Mobile Devices

These mobile devices do not currently support the reading of our Digital materials.

  • Windows RT devices (e.g. Surface RT/2, Vivotab RT, Dell XPS 10, IdeaPad Yoga 11, etc. These devices simply do not allow installing applications).

  • Google Chromebook (Support to run Android apps natively in Chrome OS is currently in the works but not yet supported).

  • E-Ink devices (e.g. Kindle Paperwite 3G, Nook Simpletouch, etc.).
