Adobe Digital Editions Setup
Adobe Digital Editions is a free tool that allows you to read, search, highlight, take notes, and bookmark your digital content for most of our titles (note, a few of our titles have scanned content that may not have full capabilities). In addition, this software allows publishers to make more digital content available in a way that prevents copyright infringement. You can also read our digital content on your mobile device. For more information, see our mobile device setup page.
Some eBooks will allow partial or full printing. Before installing, please note that if printing is available for your eBook, you can only print from the first computer you download your book onto. If you first download onto a mobile device, you will not be able to print.
For more in-depth instruction, please refer to this detailed walkthrough with screenshots.
First, make sure you have Adobe Digital Editions installed
Go to http://www.adobe.com/solutions/ebook/digital-editions/download.html and select the version of Digital Editions that corresponds with your operating system (Windows/Macintosh).
Note: If you have a Macintosh computer with an older operating system (v10.7 or older), you will need to download an older version of Digital Editions from this page: http://www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions/downloads.html.
Click on the Download link for your eBook on your Digital Materials page
Once Adobe Digital Editions is installed and authorized, clicking on the Download link for your eBook should prompt you to open the file with Adobe Digital Editions; the file will be called “URLLink.acsm.” If your download doesn't open automatically you can find the file in your browser's downloads, or navigate to the Downloads folder on your computer.
Get an Adobe ID to authorize your copy of Adobe Digital Editions
After opening your eBook with Digital Editions, you will be prompted for an Adobe ID. If you don't have one, click the “Create an Adobe ID” link and follow the steps to create one (be aware that the site might pop up behind the Adobe Digital Editions window). Once you have an Adobe ID, enter it and your password into Digital Editions to finish authorizing.
